STEP UP - Become a Red Cross Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Red Cross volunteer, if at anytime during this process you prefer to speak with a volunteer coordinator, please call 910-762-2683 ext 238.
Step 1: Pick a volunteer job by visiting our Volunteer Opportunities page. Once you have determined where you would like to work, you will find all the required documents and the agency orientation right here on this page.
Step 2: Download and fill out our volunteer application , volunteer handbook , code of conduct and intellectual property agreement.
There are email buttons on each form. Once you have filled out the form, save it to your desk top so you can easliy find it. Open your email program and create a new email. Attach the documents to the email and send to volunteerapplications@arccapefear.org .
Step 3: Please review our Orientation to the American Red Cross
This course is designed to share our mission, our expectations of all our staff and volunteers, and provides you with the foundation for your volunteer experience.
Step 4: The American Red Cross conducts background checks on all new volunteer and paid staff through MyBackgroundCheck.com. These background checks include a national criminal database search, sexual predator search, social security verification and a motor vehicle check (for those who may drive a Red Cross vehicle).
Individuals who do not pass the background check will be notified directly by MyBackgroundCheck.Com within 14 days with instructions on how to correct any errors or appeal the results of the background check. Everyone will be required to provide the following:
1) Full name
2) Address
3) E-mail address
4) Telephone number
5) Social security number or other government ID
6) Drivers license number (if you have one)
Once you have gathered the required information, begin the background check at MyBackgroundCheck.com . When asked for your unit of affiliation, please choose - American Red Cross Cape Fear Chapter. The chapter code is 33468
That completes the volunteer application process. You should hear from us within three business days as to the next steps.Welcome and thank you for your willingness to serve!
